Hindu hand Painted object’s
Rien Bekkers: idea
I Made Muliana: painting - Bali
Mohammed Tajmul: embroidery – India

This body was painted by the Balinese egg painter I Made Muliana. A profession that passes from father to son. He paints eggs with images of stories from the Mahabharata, a voluminous religious and philosophical epic from India. Together with the Ramayana, it forms an important and cultural cornerstone of Hinduism.
When I saw his work I was so impressed that I asked him to paint this body. A work he worked on for months because he was not used to paint large surfaces with his small brush.

For the costume and headdress on the middle body I was inspired by images of the Hindu dancer Pandit Ram Gapal from India. The Headdress and Loincloth are hand embroidered in Rajasthan by Mohammed Tajmul, a smal embroidery workshop in Jaipur, India. I chose the colors of the basic fabric based on the colors used by the painter at my request.
These objects are for sale. Information: info@rienbekkers.nl - tel: + 31 651610439 or DM me. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a creatieve new year !
